11:20am 12pm: "The Wandering Watermelon: A Bittersweet Tale," Tom Shay

12 1pm"Illuminations: Past, Present, and Future of Fern Research," a talk about the exhibition and its convergence of art and science by Dr. Ale Vasco, BRIT Research -- joint session with BRIT Research's Lunchtime Lecture series

Break 1 – 1:15pm

1:15 - 2:15pm: "Hidden Gardens of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden: A Celebration of the Herbarium and Library Research Collections of BRIT," Barney Lipscomb, Director of BRIT Press and BRIT Library

10:30 - 11am: "Cultivating Community Garden Histories: A Community Memory Project," Janet Evans, McLean Library, Pennsylvania Horticultural Society

11am - 12pm: Table talks (not recorded) - there will be 3 rounds of Table Talks in 4 separate breakout rooms (one being a generic breakout room), 20 minutes each.  Attend 3 different table talks if you'd like, or attend multiple table talks on the same subject.

  • Table Talk 1"Where Do Ideas Come From?” - a discussion on how to produce ideas for exhibitions and displays
  • Table Talk 2Remote access to collections - a discussion on digitization, digital exhibits, blogs, and other online methods of granting patrons access to library materials
  • Table Talk 3: Stacks management and storage solutions - a discussion on how your library manages limited storage, making the case for increased space or compactor shelving units, etc.
  • Table Talk 4: Free-for-all in the breakout rooms lobby -- bring your burning issues and topics you'd like to discuss, or hang out and gab with fellow attendees
