Both John C. and Paul had talented and productive gardeners. John C.'s gardeners included: George Cruickshank (in charge between 1873-1883), John Potts (1883-1886), Robert McMillin (1886-1890), and William Swan (1890-1893). William McAllister, who worked for all those named, spent 45 years working in the hothouses.
