CBHL 2015 Annual Meeting: Taste, Tradition and Beauty in the Edible Landscape: Conference hotel & lodging options

The 2015 annual meeting and conference will be hosted by Seed Savers Exchange, located in Decorah, Iowa, on June 16-20, 2015, during SSE's 40th anniversary year. The conference theme reflects the growing public interest in creating "edible landscapes."

LODGING OPTIONS

Due to the limited number of rooms available in Decorah's hotels during the month of June, the following options are offered on a first come, first served basis. Make your reservations early!

The historic Hotel Winneshiek is built on the site of an inn created by the first European settlers in the Decorah area. Designed in the Beau-Arts style by the Chicago architectural firm, Turnock & Ohrenstein, and built in 1904-05, the hotel boasts beautiful terrazo floors, marble walls, cherry woodwork, and a grand staircase. Converted for a time into an apartment buidling, it was restored and renovated in the late 1990s. The hotel incorporates the elegant Steyer Opera House used for large dinners and events. Breakfast not included.

Our conference rate is $149 (incl. tax) per night and the reservation link below is designed specifically for our meeting.

Leytze's Corner Bed & Bath started as a historic church, built in 1892. The building was converted to an English Tudor Home in 1922, and except for a few redecorating touches, the first floor has been preserved in its original state, while the second floor was completely renovated in 2008. Furnished with stylish 1920's antiques, this cozy Bed & Bath captures the charm of days gone by.

Apartment sleeps four. This spacious Decorah apartment features a full kitchen with a full-size refrigerator and a stove. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the apartment. A flat-screen TV with a DVD player is offered to all guests of Koreana in Decorah. Ironing facilities and a hairdryer are also provided. Guests can enjoy a meal in the spacious dining area or relax on the sofa at Decorah Koreana. Air-conditioning is offered throughout this unit on the 3rd floor. The Hotel Winneshiek is less than 2 minutes’ walk from this apartment.

4. LUTHER COLLEGE RESIDENCE HALL LODGING (breakfast may be purchased in Dahl Union)


Housing will be in the Regents Towers Residence Halls (Dieseth & Miller) on the Luther College campus; check-in is at the Dahl Centennial Union. To reserve a room, please email Bill, billm@seedsavers.org, with the type of room you are requesting (single or double), with LUTHER HOUSING in the subject line. Here is a printable map of the campus. The full amount of the room rental is payable upon check-in at Dahl Centennial Union.

Single occupany - $40.50 /night

Double occupancy - $73 /night

Regents Towers are located 1.5 mi. from the Hotel Winneshiek, a 5-minute drive by car in normal traffic. Depending upon the need, a shuttle van may be available for transporting participants housed at Luther College. Parking is free at Luther College and throughout all of Decorah.

Fern Hollow Cabin is a historic log cabin located 6 miles northeast of Decorah. The log house is filled with good energy from all the 156 years that people have lived there. 

Each night, $100 for 1-2 people, additional people $10 each,  +5% tax.  
One full week: $525 + 5% tax
