CBHL 2015 Annual Meeting: Taste, Tradition and Beauty in the Edible Landscape: Saturday tours

The 2015 annual meeting and conference will be hosted by Seed Savers Exchange, located in Decorah, Iowa, on June 16-20, 2015, during SSE's 40th anniversary year. The conference theme reflects the growing public interest in creating "edible landscapes."

HISTORIC BROADWAY DISTRICT / PORTER HOUSE MUSEUM & GARDENS  - $10

 9:30 AM - Guided architectural tour of Broadway historic district, Porter House Museum & its uniqie gardens, beginning at Oneota Coop 


9:30 AM - 8:30 PM - VAN/BUS TOUR TO DUBUQUE - $75

 Visit Dubuque, Iowa's oldest city and one of the oldest settlements west of the Mississippi River. The first permanent European settler to the area was French-Canadian fur trader Julien Dubuque.

Enjoy a picnic lunch and view the Mississippi River from the heights of Eagle Point Park, with its historic Prairie Style buildings.

See the Dubuque Botanical Garden and Landscape Arboretum, with its 56-acre grounds, the work of volunteers. The Garden includes 900 varieties of hosta and a subtantial rose garden, Japanese and English gardens, and much more.



Visit the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, and one of Iowa's outstanding tour destinations.


Dine at Schera's Algerian-American restaurant in historic Elkader, Iowa, a community named after the beloved Algerian hero Abdelkadir El Djezairi. Nestled in a wooded valley on the Turkey River, Elkader has Old World charm-- and a notable antique mall across the street from Schera's.
